JULY:

  • Invited speaker: Dr. Arturo Gómez-Ruiz, Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaborator from the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica, y Electrónica (INAOE)
  • Topic of conversation/Discussion: The Gran Telescopio Milimétrico (GTM) contribution to the interferometry of EHT

FALL 2019

AUGUST:

  • Invited speaker: Irene Vargas Salazar, PhD candidate at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
  • Topic of conversation/Discussion: Graduate school in UMichigan, obstacle faced as a latina in astronomy

SEPTEMBER:

  • Invited speaker: Dr. Santiago Casas, Euclid post-doctoral researcher, Institute of Research into the Fundamental laws in the Universe, France
  • Topic of conversation/Discussion: The Hubble constant, how it is measured, what is new about it

OCTOBER:

  • Invited speaker: Dr. Miguel Velázquez, professor at the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica, y Electrónica (INAOE).
  • Topic of conversation/Discussion: Large Millimeter Telescope, detecting objects in space in the millimeter wavelength

NOVEMBER:

  • Invited speaker: Dr. Enrico Ramírez, professor at the University of California at Santa Cruz
  • Topic of conversation/Discussion: Astrophysics in Mexico and finding whats to support astrophysics in Central America and the Caribbean

DECEMBER:

  • Invited speaker: Dr. Esteban Araya, professor at Western Illinois University 
  • Topic of conversation/Discussion: master's program in astronomy at Western Illinois University, using ALMA data to study molecular clouds in the interstellar medium
